Composition and lyricsEdit
"Don't Be Afraid" is an R&B and pop song of five minutes, two seconds, produced by frequent album collaborator CTK720. The lyrics, written by McCoy, tell his girlfriend not to be afraid when he leaves. The lyrics gained mainly positive reviews from critics (see below).
Mrs. Maturo of Martin Reviews said that the song was "interesting, though 'interesting' means 'good'. I like the piano and string combination, and I'd absolutely play it for my English class." She said about the lyrics "I like his songwriting ability. He's got some talent. Don't forget to see him at the Talent Show." Mrs. Morabito, also of Martin Reviews, said of the lyrics "I haven't seen them yet, but he says he'll show me. I can't wait."
